How it works
The ocean wave sound is filtered brown noise, which is a soft, low, rumbling kind of noise with the sharp high frequencies removed. A slow gain swell, rising and falling roughly every ten seconds, shapes that noise into the rolling pattern of waves breaking and receding. The white noise option is plain, unfiltered noise at a steady level, with no swell applied.
When you pick a set duration, a countdown runs in the background. In the final 30 seconds the volume fades smoothly to silence, so the sound never stops with an abrupt cut that could wake you. If you choose "Until stopped", the sound keeps playing at your chosen volume until you press Pause or Reset.
How to use your result
Set the volume low enough that the sound sits in the background rather than demanding attention, and place your device face down or on silent so screen light and notifications do not undo the calm. If you wake in the night, you can press Start again for another timed session instead of leaving sound on all night.
