How it works

Grounding, in this tracker's plain sense, means time spent walking barefoot or sitting with bare skin in contact with natural ground — sand, grass or soil — rather than a floor or a shoe sole. This tracker simply records how many minutes you logged each day, adds them up, and counts your streak. It makes no claim about health effects beyond the time itself.

Your entries are saved only in your own browser, under a local storage key starting with healthsand_, so they are still here when you return on the same device and browser. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed. Today's total counts entries dated today, this week's total counts the last 7 days including today, and the streak counts consecutive days with at least one entry, ending today or, if you have not logged today yet, yesterday.

Build up gradually: short, comfortable sessions on clean, safe ground, checking your feet afterwards, are a better habit than one long session on rough or hot ground. Avoid barefoot walking where there may be sharp objects, broken glass, very hot sand, or a risk of infection, and take extra care if you have diabetes, reduced foot sensation, or a foot wound.

How to use your result

Use the weekly total to see whether barefoot time is becoming a regular habit, and the streak as a gentle motivator — a missed day simply ends the streak, it does not erase your past entries. If your feet feel sore, blistered or cut, rest them and shorten future sessions before adding more minutes.
